Set up your Minecraft Bedrock server

Configure a Bedrock Dedicated Server with the correct world, access rules and player settings without changing provider-managed networking.

Set the basic server properties

Minecraft Bedrock Dedicated Server uses server.properties for its main settings. Common options include server-name, gamemode, difficulty, allow-cheats, max-players, allow-list and level-name.

Use the Runic panel values for the assigned network allocation. Do not change server-port or other provider-managed networking values unless the panel specifically tells you to do so.

Make a private server with the allow list

  1. Set allow-list=true when you want only approved players to join.
  2. Start the server and use the Bedrock allowlist command to add the correct Xbox Live gamertags.
  3. Reload the allow list after any manual file edit.
  4. Keep online-mode enabled for an internet-facing production server.
ImportantA player limit is not an access-control list. Use the allow list when the server should be private.

Move an existing Bedrock world safely

  1. Back up the destination server before replacing any world files.
  2. Stop the server so the active world is not being written during the transfer.
  3. Upload the complete Bedrock world folder through the validated file or SFTP workflow.
  4. Set level-name to the uploaded world folder name if the Runic workflow requires it.
  5. Start the server and verify the expected world, player access and console output before deleting the backup.
