Runic Hosting uses customer information to create accounts, bill for hosting, operate servers, provide support, prevent abuse and comply with law. We do not sell customer account data for targeted advertising.
Scope and who controls data
This Privacy Policy applies to the Runic Hosting website, customer and staff portals, support communications and game-server hosting services. The provider operating Runic Hosting is responsible for deciding how information collected directly through these Services is used, except where another company acts as an independent controller, such as a payment provider processing its own transaction records.
If a formal legal entity name or business address appears on your invoice or checkout, that entity is the operator of the Service for purposes of this Policy.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Runic Hosting, we may collect:
- Account information: name, email address, account identifiers, authentication and security information.
- Billing information: invoices, billing status, transaction identifiers, payment method type, renewal state and related records. Full PayPal credentials are not stored by Runic Hosting.
- Service information: game, server configuration, purchased resources, region, service status, IP/port assignments, panel identifiers and provisioning records.
- Server and file data: worlds, saves, configuration files, logs, backups, mods, plugins and other files you upload or create in the hosted environment.
- Support information: support tickets, messages, attachments, troubleshooting logs and notes you send to us.
- Technical information: IP address, browser/device information, request logs, timestamps, security events, authentication activity and diagnostic information.
- Communications and preferences: notification choices and marketing preferences where offered.
- Split the Cost contributions: if you contribute toward someone else’s invoice, PayPal processes the payment and we receive the amount, payment status and transaction identifier, linked to the invoice you funded.
- Affiliate program: if you join, your affiliate account details, payout and tax information, and referral and commission records. When a visitor arrives through an affiliate’s link, we record the affiliate’s referral code and, if they sign up or order, which account or order it was credited to.
How we use information
We may use information to:
- create and secure accounts;
- process orders, invoices, renewals, cancellations and refunds;
- provision, operate, migrate, back up, restore and troubleshoot game servers;
- provide customer support and communicate service information;
- detect fraud, abuse, attacks, account compromise and policy violations;
- measure reliability, capacity and product performance;
- improve the website, ordering, customer experience and support workflows;
- send transactional messages such as invoices, security alerts, outage notices and policy changes;
- send optional marketing messages where you have consented or where permitted by law;
- comply with legal obligations and respond to valid legal requests.
Where privacy law requires a legal basis, our processing may rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Services, consent, or compliance with legal obligations.
Payments and billing
Runic Hosting uses third-party payment services, including PayPal where available at checkout. The payment provider receives the information necessary to authorize and settle the transaction and processes that information under its own privacy terms. We receive transaction status, identifiers and billing records needed to operate your account, but do not receive or store your PayPal password.
Billing and customer lifecycle information may be processed through the billing platform and systems used to connect billing status to hosted services.
Server files and service data
Your hosted world and server files are processed so we can provide the Service. Automated systems may copy or move files for backups, migrations, node maintenance and recovery. Authorized staff may access service files or logs when you request support, when necessary to investigate a security or abuse issue, or when required by law.
Runic Hosting does not claim ownership of your lawful game worlds, saves or customer-created content. You remain responsible for ensuring that files, mods, plugins and other content you upload may lawfully be used.
Tracking signals and analytics
Runic does not use cross-site behavioral advertising and does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights are used for aggregated traffic and performance measurement on public marketing pages.
Because legacy browser “Do Not Track” signals do not have a uniform technical or legal standard, Runic does not change site behavior solely in response to a legacy DNT header. Where an applicable law requires recognition of a legally valid opt-out preference signal, including a Global Privacy Control signal for covered sale or sharing, Runic will honor that requirement. At present, Runic does not engage in covered sale or cross-context behavioral-advertising sharing.
Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, legal requirements, security and dispute resolution. Typical retention periods are:
- Active account and service records: for the life of the account or Service.
- Live server files after termination: may be deleted immediately when the Service is terminated. If a separate backup or recovery copy exists, it may be retained for up to 7 days unless deleted sooner or preserved longer for a legal/security reason.
- Billing and tax records: for the period required by applicable accounting and tax law, which may be several years.
- Support communications: for as long as reasonably necessary for account history, support quality, dispute resolution, security or legal obligations.
- Security and access logs: for as long as reasonably necessary for operations, abuse prevention, incident response and legal obligations.
- Marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe, ask for deletion, or the list is no longer used.
Security
We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to a hosting service, including access controls, authentication, encrypted connections where supported, least-privilege staff access, logging and security monitoring. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and should notify Runic Hosting promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability or restriction of certain personal information, to object to certain processing, or to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to appeal a privacy decision or complain to a privacy regulator.
You may unsubscribe from optional marketing email using the unsubscribe mechanism provided or by contacting us. Transactional messages necessary to operate an active account or Service cannot always be disabled.
To submit a privacy request, email legal@runichosting.com. This email address is also Runic’s designated privacy-request address for Nevada requests. Nevada consumers may use it to submit a verified request regarding covered information, including a request not to sell covered information if the Nevada opt-out law applies. Runic does not currently sell covered information for monetary consideration.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right protected by law.
Children
Runic customer and game-panel accounts are not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly permit a child under 13 to create or use such an account. A parent or guardian may own and manage a Service used by a family or gaming group, but should not provide a child under 13 with a Runic customer or panel login. If we learn that we collected personal information online directly from a child under 13 without legally sufficient parental authorization, we will review and delete it as appropriate.
International processing
Hosting and support providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we and our providers use lawful mechanisms intended to protect information transferred across borders. Local privacy rights remain subject to the laws that apply to you and the provider identified at checkout.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as products, providers, laws or business operations change. Material changes will be communicated through the website, customer account, email or another reasonable method where required. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version.
