Before you start
- Order your Runic server with the same game, server software and version as the old one. Match the loader too, for example Fabric or Paper.
- Stop the old server, then download its world, mods and configuration. Take the final copy after it has stopped so nothing is half-saved.
- Make sure your Runic server has one free backup slot and enough disk space for both copies.
Upload your files
- Stop your Runic server.
- In the panel, open Files and create a folder named runic-import.
- Upload your world, mods and configuration into runic-import using Files or SFTP. For a ZIP, upload it into the folder and unarchive it there.
- The contents of runic-import become your server’s main folder, so remove any extra wrapper folder around the files.
- Leave out the old host’s passwords, environment files and startup scripts.
Run the migration
- Open Migrations in your server’s sidebar and choose “Import staged files from another host”.
- Tick the confirmation box once uploading is finished and the server is stopped, then select Back up and migrate.
- The migration creates a full backup, checks the uploaded paths and moves any Runic files it replaces into a recovery folder. Files you did not upload stay where they are.
- Start the server, watch Console until it has loaded, and join to check your world.
After the move
Use your Runic server address and ports; the old host’s ports do not carry over. Check any settings in the game’s configuration that referenced the old host.
Databases, player accounts, billing and the old host’s ports are not migrated. If a plugin used a database, recreate it under Databases and update the plugin’s settings.
If something looks wrong, restore the backup the migration created from Backups. Stuck? Open a ticket and our 24/7 support will help.
