Set up your ICARUS dedicated server

Configure an ICARUS dedicated server for a persistent Open World using the official ServerSettings.ini options and a backup-first prospect workflow.

Core ServerSettings.ini options

ICARUS dedicated servers expose settings such as SessionName, JoinPassword, MaxPlayers, AdminPassword, ShutdownIfNotJoinedFor, ShutdownIfEmptyFor and prospect load/create/resume behavior.

Use a unique admin password and do not reuse the player join password for administrative access.

Start or resume the intended prospect

  1. Back up the existing dedicated-server prospect data before changing load/create settings.
  2. Stop the server before editing ServerSettings.ini or replacing save data.
  3. Choose whether the server should create, load or resume the intended prospect using the validated panel options.
  4. Start the server and confirm the expected session is visible and joinable.
  5. Verify recent progress before deleting the prior recovery point.

Use automatic shutdown deliberately

ICARUS can stop an unused server after configured idle periods. If you change the empty/not-joined shutdown values, confirm they match how the group expects the persistent world to behave and do not mistake an intentional idle shutdown for a crash.
