Restart and version match
- Create a backup and warn players before a game update or world configuration change.
- Stop the server in the panel and wait for it to exit before editing ServerDescription.json or WorldDescription.json.
- Start and wait for a ready session. The dedicated server and game client must use matching versions.
Joining fails
- Use the direct-connect address and port assigned under Network; Windrose direct connections need both TCP and UDP on the same assigned port.
- Confirm the server is ready, the invite code or password is correct, and the client version matches.
- If only the browser listing fails, test direct connection before changing world files. Include the time and exact client error in a support ticket.
World missing after update
The official recovery path uses versioned RocksDB backups and the world’s WorldIslandID. Do not create a fresh world over the only copy. Stop the server, preserve the current files, and restore the matching backup/world identity with support if the expected world does not appear.
Mods and plugins
Runic has not validated a Windrose dedicated-server mod or plugin loader for this launch. The official server guide covers configuration and saves, not a one-click mod installer. Keep third-party binaries off the production world until a tested path is published.
