Restart and update
- Back up the universe and configuration before a Hytale server or plugin update.
- Stop through the panel and wait for the process to exit. Apply the supported update or one file change, then start and watch authentication and world-loading output.
- Confirm the Hytale client uses the server’s required protocol/version before inviting players.
Mods and plugins
- Back up the world, stop the server, and open Mods & Plugins in its Runic panel sidebar.
- Search the Hytale CurseForge catalog and choose Install. Runic checks the installed server build against the mod’s manifest, verifies the download, and stages compatible required dependencies before activating files.
- Review the Installed tab, restart the server, and check Console for the plugin enabled message. If a release has no verifiable compatibility or a missing dependency, Runic leaves the server files unchanged and explains why.
ImportantHytale JAR and ZIP server mods are supported. Bootstrap packages and unverified releases are excluded; manual uploads remain available through Files and SFTP.
Server will not authenticate or connect
- Read Console for the exact authentication state. Complete the official device flow if prompted; never publish a device code or token.
- Use the assigned address and UDP/QUIC allocation. Check client/server version mismatch before changing network values.
- If the server loaded but the player is denied, inspect whitelist and permissions settings rather than reinstalling the world.
World or plugin failure
Restore the complete universe from a known-good backup while stopped. A protocol update can require plugins to be rebuilt; disable incompatible packages before returning the world to players.
